Biography
Laurie grew up never backing down from a challenge, the neighbourhood boys would call her out for street hockey and BMX stunts, and she never said no. That competitive fire never left her. It branched out into an array of sports including mountain bike races, long distance running, figure and bodybuilding competitions, and motocross racing. Seven months after giving birth to her first child, she entered her first figure competition and was completely hooked. Today she is a personal trainer, life coach, motivational speaker, published writer, and the owner of Aspire2BFit Training Services in Cranbrook, BC, still competing, still coaching, still proving that greatness has no expiry date.
After eight years away from competitive fitness, Laurie came out of retirement in 2023 and competed at the USBF Pro Master Championships in Peoria, Illinois. That decision came from a personal place, a desire to see where she was at, and to keep showing up. She is now President of the World Fitness Federation, an international bodybuilding organisation formed in 1968, where she scouts competitors to represent BC and Canada in WFF competitions worldwide. She also won the Western Canadian Long Drive Golf Championship and is pursuing a spot on Team Canada for the World Long Drive Championships. Laurie is a mother and grandmother who still trains six days a week because for her, this was never just about sport. It was always about showing her kids what drive looks like.
